Ride Entry – 14th August 2009
by admin on Aug.14, 2009, under Uncategorized
Bike:Vela
Distance:27 miles
Short but fast ride. Still very windy mind. Not much climbing, say 550m, 18.9mph average. Legs felt heavy.
In better news, my son got his Youth track accreditation and I got my pink slip today at the ‘drome, sweet!

What’s
a: Youth Track Accreditation?
b: Pink Slip?
it was horribly windy today then it hammered down, you’re going to have to go some to get 5200 for the year, too, come on, chop chop

a. It just means he’s been accepted as being able to ride in a line safely, understands how to behave around the track and allows him access to the SQT youth sessions, doesn’t really mean very much for kids to be honest.
b. Means I’m a recognised experienced/skilled track rider and can attend the skills and Induction sessions. It’s just one step closer to being fully accredited. Once I’m accredited I can do the SQT sessions with the derny bike, sprints and Madison training. And I can go racing!!
Tell me about it, very slow start held me back and while I’m doing my best to make up for it now, it’s really hard finding the time some days.

a + b : ACE!
I had no idea you had to pass tests to track race, but it makes sense as it’s flipping mental

Actually, that made me think. I’ve had a look and you *don’t* need to be accredited to race, how bizarre is that? Just join the BCF, get a racing license and….oh.

maybe accreditation gives you a way into the more dangerous races or something, they must have to have some way to judge if you’re capable of racing and not just smearing people across the track!
