Ride Entry – 16th August 2009
by admin on Aug.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
Bike:Vela
Distance: 81 miles
Well that didn’t go as planned. Set off on the Pimpino for an almighty day blast offroad. Was going to aim for 100 miles. Got …..oooh, 4 miles when the cranks started creaking really loudly. I tried tightening the drive side up but as I did I could hear loads of grit crunching so decided against it. Back home, check the handjob, flat tyre, it’s had a slow for ages and I just couldn’t be arsed so I got my Vela out (again).
Still, good long ride, 81 miles at 18mph average sounds just fine to me. Especially since the wind was in my face unless I was heading directly East.
A complete BELL END overtook me in Ince on the way home and then screeched left into a petrol station, I locked the back wheel braking and just missed his dog shit coloured Fiat, not that yet another dent would make much difference to it’s looks. I was going to follow him in but then I got a good look at him. Dangerous looking meathead with tattoos all over his neck, probably not worth it then. Fuckwit. He’ll live his life between a dead end job, the dole, sitting in the pub and watching overpaid morons running around a field and shouting at his chain smoking aggressive wife and spawn. I reckon that’s punishment enough.
Edit: Oh, and that’s 254 miles for the week, thoroughly impressive for me but clearly not for 360+ miles in one week Matt, offroad like a crazy fo!

360 was pretty much an absolute maximum, this weeks 351 felt easy in comparison!
I’ll be doing very little riding over the winter, so I’m getting it out of the way whilst the rain’s still warm!
nice work on the 254, you’re one of the reasons I ride so much

254 miles in a week is a good effort Jon, especially considering how many hours you work and having a family to look after as well. Found out what’s wrong with the Pimpino?

Thanks, not bothered looking yet. I suspect the crank just came loose on the first ride and some grit got under it.
