Excellent. Hope you managed to maintain your well known decorum and diplomatic approach to dealing with idiots. I assume you just walked into see your boss, pointed aggressively, shouted “I’m fucking out of here, loser”, took a dump in his bin and ate his chair.

Alex, the IT director who is ultimately my boss has been known to read my blog from time to time so you’ve ruined that surprise now.
I’m definately a bit nervous about this, I’m taking a pay cut, it’s certainly not going to be as interesting as my current job, it’s not a hands on technical role (which is what I do best) but it is out of this ridiculous situation I’m in and if nothing more will give me time to think and also to go do all the things I want to do in my spare time that have fallen by the wayside like writing and photography and lots and lots of cycling.
