I got affluent.
Well, perhaps that’s the wrong word but I certainly found myself with sufficient disposable income that my wife started buying expensive things that we clearly didn’t need like conservatories and mind bogglingly expensive curtains so I don’t see any harm in occassionally purchasing something that I do need like a very nice bike.
Trouble is, paying germans has proved more difficult than I’d expect. I’ve tried twice now and failed.

but the German’s make nice bikes, I’ve been looking at Ghost and Cube 100mm full suss things.
