Bike: Roadlite
Distance: 55 miles
“We’re going out riding today whether it’s raining or not!”. And it didn;t rain and it was ace!
Me and my son went out on the cycling weekly route from last weeks copy around Bury, Bolton, Darwen and Ramsbottom. Very good route, lots of hills and my son handled themn admirably. 1276 metres of climbing, I’m well proud of him. He even put a a spurt on near the end in an attempt to drop me, bless.
I really enjoyed it too, I’ve ridden a good part of this ride a number of times in various sections before but it did show me some new stuff which was quite nice, especially the road from Darwen to Edgerton, that’s a good ride.

Note that that is the route I created before we went, not the actual route although it differed in only a couple of places. The road is closed in Darwen but there’s a simple diversion and we rode all the way into Bury before I realised we’d missed the turning.

Nice route, I’ve done similar a few times, some nice undulating b roads, just that grane road bit is nasty, fast twisty, narrow road, get overtaken too close quite a lot until you get to the top – don’t get overtaken after that tho
